Purpose of the service
Sesame lets you build, publish and run a website, with the related tools: media library, analytics, shop and email sending.
The creative suite also includes tools for visuals, logos and image editing. Available features and limits depend on the selected plan.
Account and access
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract to create an account. If you use Sesame for a company or an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to act on its behalf; the organisation is then the customer.
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details and for keeping your credentials confidential. You may invite other people into your workspaces and grant them roles (owner, administrator, member or viewer). You remain responsible for what they do with the access you grant.
Only grant the access needed for each task. If you suspect unauthorised access, secure your account and contact Sesame without sharing your password.
Your content and permitted use
You retain all the rights you hold in your content. You must have the permissions needed to upload, use and publish it, including for images, fonts and personal data.
You grant Sesame, for the duration of your use of the service, a non-exclusive and free permission to host, copy, adapt technically (resizing, compression, formatting) and display your content, only as needed to provide the service and to show your published sites. This permission ends when the content or your account is deleted, subject to the backup periods described in the privacy policy.
It is prohibited to use Sesame for:
- unlawful or hateful content, or content infringing the rights of others;
- uses intended to deceive, such as impersonating an organisation or a person, phishing or fake records;
- sending unsolicited bulk email or collecting personal data without a lawful basis;
- any attempt to harm the service, to access other customers’ data or to circumvent its limits.
Reporting and moderation
Anyone can report content published with Sesame that they believe is unlawful by writing to admin@bysesame.com, giving the page address, the content concerned and the reasons for the report.
Sesame acts as a host for published sites. When a report is well founded, or when content clearly breaks these terms, Sesame may remove or block access to the content, or suspend the site or the account. The customer concerned is informed of the decision and its reasons, unless the law or an investigation prevents it, and may contest it by replying to that message.
Tools, templates and AI
Sesame, its software, its brand and its interface remain the property of the operator. You receive a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use them for as long as you use the service.
Templates, blocks, illustrations and creative assets provided in Sesame may be used and modified freely for your sites and visuals made with Sesame, including commercially. They may not be resold or redistributed as templates or as a stand-alone collection. Fonts and stock images from third-party providers (for example Lummi or Google Fonts) remain subject to their own licences.
AI tools rely on providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Recraft. As far as the operator is concerned, you may use the results you generate as you wish, within the limits of the providers’ terms and the law. Results may be inaccurate or resemble existing works: check them before use, especially before publishing them or using them as a brand or logo. AI credits included in a plan are valid for the current billing period and are not carried over or refunded.
Plans and billing
A free plan lets you try the tools before subscribing. Paid plans, their prices including VAT, AI credits and storage limits are shown on the pricing page and in the app at the time of subscription.
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually, in advance, through Stripe. They renew automatically for the same period until cancelled. Any price change is announced at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, and you may cancel before that date.
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid: you keep access to paid features until then, and no further payment is taken. Payments made are not refunded, including for a partial period or unused credits.
If you are a consumer, you have a legal right of withdrawal of 14 days from subscription. By subscribing, you ask for immediate access to paid features and expressly waive this right once performance has started, as permitted by article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code. The free plan is there so you can try Sesame before paying.
If a payment fails, Stripe retries it and you are notified by email. Without payment, the account returns to the free plan after a grace period announced by email; content that exceeds the free plan’s limits may become unavailable until you subscribe again.
View plansAvailability, support and changes
Sesame makes reasonable efforts to keep the service available, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, provider incidents or updates may cause interruptions, announced in advance when they are planned.
Support is provided by email at admin@bysesame.com, generally within two working days.
Sesame evolves: features may be added, changed or removed. If a change significantly reduces a paid feature, you are informed in advance and may cancel. Changes to these terms are announced by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you continue to use the service after that date, the new terms apply; if you refuse them, you may cancel and delete your account.
Ending access and deleting an account
Cancelling a paid plan and deleting an account are different actions. You can delete your account at any time from its settings, after confirming your identity. Deletion immediately cancels any subscription, disconnects custom domains and takes your sites offline. It cannot be undone.
Before deleting your account, copy any content you wish to keep: Sesame does not currently offer a full automatic export of sites. Deletion timelines for remaining copies are set out in the privacy policy.
Sesame may suspend or close an account, after notice by email, if these terms are seriously breached, if payments remain unpaid or if the law requires it. In urgent cases (fraud, attack, clearly unlawful content), suspension may be immediate and the reasons are then sent to you. You may contest the decision by replying to that message.
Personal data
The privacy policy describes how Sesame processes the personal data of account holders and visitors.
For the data of visitors to your sites (form messages, newsletter subscribers, shop orders, statistics), you are the controller and Sesame acts as your processor. Sesame then undertakes to process this data only on your instructions and to provide the service, to keep it confidential, to protect it with appropriate security measures, to use only the sub-processors listed in the privacy policy, to help you answer visitors’ requests and to delete it when your account is deleted. You are responsible for informing your visitors and, where needed, for collecting their consent.
Read the privacy policyResponsibilities and guarantees
You are responsible for your content, your sites, your shop and your relations with your own customers and visitors.
Sesame is bound by an obligation of means. If you are a consumer, you benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity for digital services (articles L224-25-12 and following of the French Consumer Code): in case of a defect, you may request that the service be brought into conformity, then a price reduction or the termination of the contract.
If you are a professional, Sesame is not liable for indirect damage such as loss of revenue, data or customers, and its total liability is limited to the amounts you paid during the 12 months before the event. These limits do not apply in case of gross negligence or wilful misconduct, nor to consumers.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In case of difficulty, write first to admin@bysesame.com so that a solution can be found amicably.
If you are a consumer and your complaint has not been resolved within two months, you may refer it free of charge to the consumer mediator [Mediator name and website]. You may also bring the matter before the competent court, including that of your place of residence.
If you are a professional, any dispute that cannot be settled amicably falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of the operator’s business address.
